Fast-rising Nollywood actress and model, Queen Adakole has her eyes on the top. The 24 year-old Benue State born dark-skinned beauty, is set to take the entertainment industry by storm with her target of reaching out to a minimum of 15 million people. In this interview, she talks about her career, relationship, family and more .
When did you begin your acting career?
I started acting in 2005 when I did my first movie ‘Queen of Tomorrow’. It was shot in Ghana, Benin Republic and Lagos. Then I was still in secondary school (SS2). I had to stop acting after that because my family thought if I continued, I wouldn’t go to school. But I got back fully into the industry in 2012.

How did you start modeling?
Before modeling, I was actually dancing. I danced for two years then went into modelling. One of my artiste friends in Benin Republic whom I danced for looked at me and said ‘Why just dance, why not model?’. He said I could do well at modeling since I’m dark, tall and slim. I joined a modeling house in Benin Republic. That was how I started modeling and I took it professionally when I came down to Nigeria to continue my education.

Which is more lucrative, acting or modeling?
I would say acting, though modeling is cool, but you can’t model all your life. At one point, you have to retire. Acting is a lifetime career. I’m more passionate about acting.

Which do you think is more challenging?
Acting is more challenging because you have to pretend to be what or who you are not. You work on new challenges everyday. You learn new languages, travel often and sometimes you hardly get to rest.

How easy was it for you to get into the acting industry considering the competition?
It wasn’t really easy, it’s just by God’s grace. I was fortunate to meet the right people like Mr. Ibu and he accepted to manage me. He gave me my first major job and we worked together subsequently. After that, I’ve been freelancing on my own and I’ve met a lot of other great people.

Most people would ague that actors don’t really make love on set and that it’s all make-believe?
It depends on the kind of movie you’re doing. In Africa, we don’t go to the extremes, but when you’re doing a Hollywood movie, anything can happen. I don’t intend to just be an African actress, I intend to take it to the next level, do Hollywood movies and so on.

Have you done any sexually explicit scene before?
I have.

Don’t you get turned on doing some of those scenes?
No. I take the idea of lovemaking and sex very personal. So, when I’m working, it’s work. You don’t get aroused or get a feeling. You get carried away in the act, but you don’t get carried away in the feeling. In the sense that, you know you’re doing a movie and you want to make it look real. You pretend to be another person but you don’t feel a thing. After everything, you’re like ‘it’s nice working with you’ and it ends there. Some people might take it elsewhere, but for me, it ends there.

Would you date someone in the industry?
I can’t control my feelings but I wouldn’t want to date anyone in the industry. I’m an entertainer and I’m not ready for an entertainer kind of relationship. We travel a lot and so the person could be living a double life. He could get married to someone in Zambia and have you as a wife in Nigeria.

Are you inferring that entertainers live double lives?
I’m not saying so, but it’s possible, the chances are 50-50.

What are you presently working on?
I’m working on my own entertainment outfit which will encompass acting, modeling, music, dance and so on. I currently have a dance team that I manage in Benin Republic. I’m working on a lot of stuff to put myself out there, because I came into the industry with a target to reach a minimum of 15 million people around the world. I’m also currently doing a documentary on myself in  Benin Republic, showing my full story in visuals which will be aired on TV.

What are those physical attributes you possess that has worked in your favour?
My colour. I’m black, black is beautiful and unique. Secondly, my height which is 5’ 10”, so for a woman, I’m tall. Also, my slim structure and my stomach is so flat that when I wear a bikini, people are like ‘Wow!’. Then the funny part that I don’t joke with is, my boobs. They are small and cute and I don’t think they can ever sag. Having small boobs is the cutest thing any lady could ever have because 20 years to come they still look fresh and attractive. Why go for silicons when after five years, they go down and I still need to go fill it up again?

You think that has really worked for you?
It has worked a lot of magic for me in the sense that any clothes I put on, look good on me. I don’t worry about anything because they are there to make it perfect. What’s the point having big boobs when after some time, you can’t show them off anymore. Two things I won’t do: enlarge my boobs or change my colour.

What’s your take on going nude either as a model or as an actress?
I would go nude with concept, but completely nude? No. What I mean by going nude with concept is, for instance, in modeling you could do a photo-shoot where you’re nude but with your hands covering your privates. It shows that you’re nude but with concept – people don’t get to see your privates.

With the increase in homosexuality everywhere and in Nollywood, have you had any experience in that regard?
There was a time, I went to work in the east in Owerri, precisely. After shooting, I was in my hotel room and a lady who also worked on the same set with me, walked up to me at about 1.00a.m when we finished shooting. She told me she couldn’t go back to her house in Owerri, so I asked her to come and stay in my room, so that she could go back home in the morning and prepare for the next shoot. It was so funny that night, because it was the first time I was having such an experience with a lady. It was so real and strange. She just started touching me. I stood up and slapped her. I don’t like a lady touching me. No offense to the gay, because I have a lot of gay friends but I don’t like when you do it to me. Even though I slapped her, she was still like ‘Please, it won’t hurt, you’ll like it’. It was as if she was sick, because it wasn’t her anymore. I had to scream and people came to my rescue, because she was so strong, pushing and I was struggling with her. It was as if she was possessed. When people came, she pleaded that she didn’t know what came over her, to a point that I felt bad to have screamed for people to come. She was like a totally different person after the whole incident.

What was your growing up like?
It was fun because my family moved a lot. I was born in Plateau State, then we moved to Bauchi where I spent about ten years. After that, we moved to Republic of Benin where I spent most of my life. I’m the first girl out of a family of nine.
 

Wedding: One killed, others injured as robbers attack couple on way to reception

OWERRI – A gang of masked dare devil armed robbers at the weekend, unleashed terror on a bridal train at Mgbuishii, Ohaji/Egbema local government area of Imo State, killing the video camera man and badly wounded others, including the photographer in the process.
Vanguard gathered that the newly wed couple (names withheld) were in Chimezie Catholic Parish, Mgbuishii, for the solemnization of their wedding and were on their way back to Owerri for the reception, when masked men suddenly jumped out of the nearby bush and attacked the bridal train.
A villager, who spoke on strict grounds of anonymity, identified the dead video camera man as Mr. Isaac Ezirim, while the wounded photographer was Mr. Julius Ashigbu.
“The hoodlums first attacked the vehicle conveying the bride and groom. Although the bullets hit the video camera man and the photographer, the driver of the vehicle sped off”, the villager recounted.
It was also gathered that having missed their target, the masked hoodlums descended on all the vehicles coming behind the couple.
“The hoodlums robbed the friends and relations of the couple of cash and other personal valuables, including telephone handsets”, the villager said.
A close friend of the couple told Vanguard that the wedding, which was taken to the home of the groom, was eventful until the bridal train started moving to Owerri for the reception.
“This ugly incident took place at the outskirts of Mgbuishii, a sleepy rural community that is now getting notorious for all manner of serious crimes”, a female villager lamented.
It would be recalled that about a year ago, Vanguard exclusively reported how scores of women from this community, demonstrated at Maria Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri, to not only complain about the lack of security in the area, but also how their children mindlessly raped them.
The fear-stricken women equally refused to go home after the protest until their host, Archbishop Anthony J. V. Obinna, arranged police escort that helped them home.

Family, celebrities, drama at funeral for Bobbi Kristina Brown

Family and friends said goodbye Saturday to Bobbi Kristina Brown, the only child of the late Whitney Houston and singer Bobby Brown, at a private funeral just north of Atlanta.

The body of Brown, 22, was carried in a silver casket to St. James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, where the invitation-only service included grandmother Cissy Houston; Bobby Brown and his wife, Alicia; and celebrities including media mogul Tyler Perry and singer Monica.

They arrived in a motorcade of limousines, led by police motorcycles.

Brown died in hospice care July 26, six months after being found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub at her suburban Atlanta home. She never regained consciousness after the incident, and her months of medical care exposed family rifts that never seemed to heal.

Brown's partner Nick Gordon, who discovered her in the bathtub, repeatedly said on social media that he was not allowed to see her in the hospital. Entertainment Tonight and People magazine reported Gordon was absent from the funeral.

In June, a civil lawsuit was filed against Gordon in the Superior Court of Fulton County, Georgia, alleging that he accessed Brown's bank accounts and stole more than $11,000.

There were also reports the family was fighting over her care, though Bobby Brown said in June the family was working together on his daughter's behalf.

The family drama continued even at the funeral. In the middle of the service, Brown's aunt, Leolah Brown, walked over to the media gathered outside the church and said she had just been kicked out for shouting at Pat Houston, Whitney's sister-in-law.

"It went wonderful until Pat started speaking, and I didn't like that," Leolah Brown said.

Whatever dispute the two women have "is going to be a long, drawn-out thing," Brown promised. "Trust me. It's not over."

Snoop Dogg cash seized at Italy airport

Rap star Snoop Dogg has been stopped by police in Italy while carrying $422,000 (£270,000) in cash, authorities say.

The singer was travelling through an airport in Calabria, southern Italy, where he had been performing.

Sums of more than €10,000 (£7,000; $11,000) must be declared by anyone travelling through airports in the European Union.

Last week, the American was stopped on suspicion of possessing drugs by police in Uppsala, Sweden.

He criticised what he said was "racial profiling" but Swedish police say they have yet to receive the results of tests to see whether Snoop Dogg had drugs in his system.

'No crime'

After stopping him on Saturday as he prepared to board a private plane, Italian police seized half of the $422,000 under money laundering laws, the state news agency Ansa said.

It is now likely to be returned, with a fine deducted, the Italian financial police say.

Andrea Parisi, a lawyer representing the artist, told Reuters: "We clarified everything from a legal point of view. The money came from concerts he had performed around Europe. There was no crime; it was just an administrative infraction."

Snoop Dogg - whose real name is Calvin Broadus - is scheduled to play the Kendal Calling festival in northern England on Sunday.

He has not responded to his latest detention and his current whereabouts are unconfirmed.

Turkish troops 'hit by suicide bomber' in Dogubayezit

Two Turkish security troops have died and 24 wounded in a suicide attack by Kurdish PKK militants, according to the regional governor's office.

A tractor laden with explosives was driven at a military police station, reports by Turkish media say.

The attack happened near the town of Dogubayazit in Agri province, close to Turkey's border with Iran.

Since 24 July, Turkey has carried out hundreds of air raids on PKK bases on both sides of the Iraq-Turkey border.

The Turkish state news agency, Anadolu, said that the attack happened at around 03:00 local time (00:00 GMT).

It said that the tractor was carrying two tons of explosives that were detonated by a suicide bomber.

Police raid baby factory in Asaba, arrest operator, eight pregnant girls

Police detectives, at  the  weekend, swooped on a suspected baby factory in  Asaba, Delta State, and arrested the operator and eight pregnant girls.
In addition, a surveillance patrol team attached to the Ozoro Police Division, in the state, apprehended a pastor and a 14-year-old girl at a cemetery in the town around 10.30 pm.
Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects, said, “On 30/7/2015 at about 2038hrs, Police detectives from GRA Division Asaba, while acting on a tip off raided a suspected baby factory at opposite Federal Radio Corporation, Asaba and arrested its operator, one John Mary Ihezun ‘m’.
“Eight pregnant girls, namely (1) Ihezue Nkemjika, (2) Amaka Agu, (3) Isioma Anukwu, (4) Blessing Okafor, (5) Imezoma Okeke, (6) Chioma Oje, (7) Precious Ihemine, (8) Nzube Chukwu, and two boys, one Prince Chukwu and Obum Nwankwo were also arrested from the said baby factory. Meanwhile, investigation is in progress.”
In a related development, she said, “On 30/7/2015 at about 2230hrs, surveillance patrol team from Ozoro Division while on routine patrol arrested one pastor of Christ Freedom Family, Amazing Grace, Ozoro, in a cemetery at Ozoro with one Chioma (f), aged 14 years.
“The suspect claimed that he was performing spiritual healing on the said Chioma    to enable her attain academic prowess. Investigation is ongoing,” she added.

Tell us about yourself
I am a career woman, a wife and a mother. A hard working thespian who still loves to sing, maybe soon I will make a comeback into music.   I love what I do and I’m quite passionate about it.

Let’s talk about you and people’s perception of your real self…..
There’s difference between real me and the characters I play on movies. What really thrills me about people is when they say, oh! You really look pretty on TV! Which is nice, but I never heard anybody come to me and say you are the image you portray on screen. My fans need me and they appreciate my work. They appreciate the artistry I bring into the work. Also you should know I am a woman who is over 45. I have nieces and nephews around me. When we sit and do things together, people do think we are age mates, but of course, I have the confidence in knowing that I am still looking good and that exudes sexiness. I believe women in their 40’s are still as good as women in their 20’s if I may say.

Do the roles you play reflect your person?
The roles I play in movies don’t reflect in me as a person. Come to think of it, I am a sexy woman. I have a loving husband that makes me feel sexy. I have two children that make me feel wonderful and family that are very supportive. I am very confident and that’s because I feel I have things that makes me feel that way. It works for me. I think people get the sexiness in everything I do because I exude confidence and that’s what they see as being sexy.

Tell us how you felt playing the character of Adesua in Taste of love.
For the role I play as Adesua in Taste of love, I take pride in it. That’s exactly what the bible character is. The fact that the audience is saying that’s who she is makes me fulfilled. They script writer wrote that as a bible character and people who are watching confirms that. That means I know of it.

How does your being a wife and mother influence the character you play as Adesua?
It is fun playing Adesua. I am a mother, a wife and playing Adesua thrills me because she is a powerful woman. She’s not overly powerful but she gets what she wants. She gets what she believe is hers anyway, even if she does it in a dubious way. To me she is an emblem of a strong woman.

How do you feel being a cast member and has the soap opera, Taste of Love been a success story?
Taste of Love as the first Nigerian Telenova, an adaption of South American Televista series is a success story and still ongoing as we approach season after season. We are in the work right now shooting the second season. I am excited because we don’t know what’s going to unravel, I don’t know what Adesua is going to be doing next, but besides, I am excited.
Its fun to see people see you on the street and call you Adesua, saying Ah a! You did not do that guy right! That’s all about it. It’s gratifying to know that the fans are watching and they are enjoying what you are doing.
What positive reviews have you gotten so far?
The movie had a lot of reviews before it went on air and it was nice. People anticipated and actually love the story line and told us to go on. It is all encouraging. I think it has been a hit and it is in line with any other shows that are great.
With the whole structure, set, and intention to keep the whole cast and crew stationed at a location for a long period was an interesting aspect it. It did work but of course, you can’t rule out some challenges which are homesick and emotional fatigue. Micro-media, the producers were generous enough to grant breaks when you needed it. Besides, there wasn’t any surmounting challenge during the whole process of season one shooting as we were properly taken care of. They have done an excellent job keeping us together. Really, they have pioneered something good.
I am very proud of having been part of Taste of love. They are great people. I call a lot the young ones in the show my baby. We had a great mentorship on the show. There is a fantastic symbiotic understanding among the old and young cast members. There was harmony.   It was fun.
Your relationship with Yola seems vague
My relationship with Yola is one interesting side of the play. The thing is that I can’t stand Yola because I love him but he doesn’t love me back. So, Adesua really wants Yola’s love and attention badly but he doesn’t know it. He uses her to get whatever he wants and doesn’t lover her instead, because of the kind of women she is. For that kind of treatment, every other man that comes into her life, she try to use them. On the contrary, Adesua is more in love with her self.   She’s out to get whatever it is she wants and as long as it pleases her. That’s typical of some women.
To know if Yola will realize and love Adesua as much as she do is obviously something more interesting to look out for in the series, as the drama unfolds. May be that’s one interesting aspect that will get you glued on your TV screen to find out, but trust me, there’s going to be surprises.
 

I lost over N1 billion in one game —Adebutu, Baba Ijebu promoter

He started as a saleman of a pharmaceutical company after his secondary education in 1955. While with the firm, he  rose to the position of Sales manager for the then Lagos and Western region, made up of the present-day Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti, Osun and Ondo states. But in 1963, he left the company to start his own small business. This was influenced by a book he read which encouraged entrepreneurship.
“I worked briefly with Classic Chemical Limited, a pharmaceutical company produced  Andrew’s Liver Salt, Cafenol and all of that. I worked as a salesman and rose to the position of Sales Manager for the Western Region and Lagos. I stumbled on a book which says whatever job you are doing, you have to leave, either you quit or they give you the boot. It went further to say that in a little business of your own, when you leave it, you leave it to yourself. That inspired me and I decided to be on my own,” he noted in an interview with Sunday Vanguard.
He chose to be an entrepreneur in an odd area.  Having no capital, he looked for a business that required little or no capital and what came to his mind was to be a pools agent.
“There was the challenge of finance because the money was not there to start a business. So I had o think about a job that required little or no money to start and what came to my mind was pools agency because, as an agent, all you need is a book, a pen and a small table,” he  recalled.
He started his life as an entrepreneur- a pools agent. Later, he went into partnership with his friend, the  late Chief Solomon Adebayo Ayoku, and, within a short time, they became  household names with their famous Face- to-Face Pools.
Many people know him as Baba Ijebu but his real name is Kessington Adebutu. He sits atop the multi-million Naira betting business – Premier Lotto (Baba Ijebu).
Adebutu, a project management and business development expert, has full ownership of investments in a number of organisations like Face- to-Face Pools, Kessington Industries, Afri-Prints Limited and Kessington Foundation.
He was born on October 24, 1935 at Iperu Remo in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State. He completed his primary education in 1942 and had his secondary education between 1951 and 1955.
The billionaire is currently the Financial Director, Premier Lotto Nigeria Limited PLL.
PLL, also  known as Baba Ijebu, is a gaming company incorporated in 2001 and was established to carry out lotto business in Nigeria.
“The public gave it to me. Funny enough, people have forgotten my family name. People think that is my name. It’s not my making. It’s not the name given to me by my father. It’s a nickname from the public and our satisfied customers and, of course, I am from  Ijebu; maybe that explains it better,” he said about his famous Baba Ijebu alias.
Obviously, the prudence with which he managed his resources has helped him in his journey, especially during challenges. It has not all been  rosy for him in the lotto business as many think. The business has suffered losses on many occasions; in fact, in the early 60, more than 95 percent of pools business in the country was killed when the entire coupon won. Even the Federal Government-sponsored Niger Pools couldn’t survive the loss but Adebutu is still standing tall.
“I started with pools, so I am used to the shock in any game.  We have lost over one billion naira in one game before, but I am used to the shock. Lotto is like mutual contribution, so we get commission as the collector. People win certain percentage of our total gain. Definitely small percentage is left for us”.
He loves pools gaming, lotto gaming and he does not see  it as  fraudulent. He believes that lotto has empowered a good number of young people and dissuaded them from heinous acts.
“The influence of gaming is enormous. People that have reservations are getting it wrong. I keep saying it that gaming is the stock exchange of the ordinary man on the street. At the stock exchange, people buy shares and, as we have seen, the shares crash at times. Similarly, when you game, you can win or lose but, at least, it gives the ordinary man hope and that stops them from any nonsense. We have also taken so many thugs out of the streets and they are useful to themselves, their families and the society at large,” he noted further.
To underscore his point, he disclosed  that six of his children are working with Premier Lotto.
Baba Ijebu, as he is fondly called, will join the octogenarian club in October. On how he keeps fit and able to manage his companies at that age, he states, “The secret is that everything in moderation. Everything should be in moderation. I do all the ‘evils’ in the world but in moderation,” he said with a smile.
The billionaire pools magnate urged young entrepreneurs to learn how to grow their business.
“Young people should learn to crawl before they walk. Young people are always too much in haste but you must learn to crawl before you walk,” the multi-business owner submitted.
A philanthropist to the core, he established the Kessington Adebutu Foundation to cater for the less privileged. The foundation also provides supports for hospitals and schools. He has built many structures across the country, including the Kesington Adebutu House in Abuja donated to the Radio, Television and Theatre Workers Union (RATTAWU); an accident and emergency centre at Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilisan Remo; Science laboratory block at Tai Solarin College of Education; a radio station for Lagos state university (LASU) to mention a few. Adebutu sponsors secondary school debate, football competition and there is also a vocational centre for training the youths in vocation of their choice.
He said that he is always willing to give back to the society as a way of showing appreciation to God, whom he noted has blessed him beyond his labour.
“It is God’s grace, that is why our office reception is full of people. I should appreciate God. That is why I give back to the society, the less privileged. God has done wonders in my life. Some people work harder than I do and not getting the result. At my age, I should be living on my reserve, my pension, but I thank God, at my age, I’m still making money. Im very grateful to God, I don’t hide it,” he added while receiving an award from Chioma Lina Okafor-led Youth Advancement for Qualitative Education, promising to support the group in its drive to advance the cause of qualitative education in the country.
 

A father, turned on by his sons’ Love-life!

MFM splashes N91m on 180 first class graduates

Abuja – Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) on Saturday offered financial rewards of N91 million on its members who graduated in first class from different universities across the country. The General Overseer of MFM, Dr Daniel Olukoya, made the announcement in Lagos at the monthly live broadcast programme of the church, tagged, “Power Must Change Hand,” which was monitored in Abuja. He said 180 first class graduates in the 2014 academic year and two others who received NYSC Presidential honours after completing the National Youth Service Corps would get N500, 000 each. Olukoya said the first class honours award, which started with 12 students, had risen to 180 and explained that it was meant to encourage hard work among students. He said the award was put in place to reward members of MFM who were dedicated to their academic work, while also creating time to serve the Almighty God. Mr Shade Olukoya, a pastor, with Prof. Bamitale Omole Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, presented the award to the recipients. Omole lauded the recipients for their dedication to their academic works and also serving God. He commended the students for making themselves, families, and the church of God proud through their hard work. Omole urged the recipients to appreciate the grace of God upon their lives and noted that many of their peers who started with them could not complete their courses for different reasons. He called on other churches to emulate MFM by encouraging hardworking students through similar awards. “The award is worthy of emulation, I urge other households of faith to follow MFM steps to encourage hard work,” he said. Zuckerberg 'miscarriage' story prompts outpouring of emotions

"It's a lonely experience," Mark Zuckerberg says, writing about his wife Priscilla Chan's three miscarriages.

Zuckerberg's announcement that Chan is now pregnant with a baby girl prompted thousands of congratulatory Facebook (FB, Tech30) messages on Friday, and some of them were extraordinarily personal, with women's stories of other miscarriages and the silence that often accompanies heartbreaking loss.

"My husband and I are going through the same thing," a user named Bethany wrote. "We just had a miscarriage in May...so it's nice to know I'm not alone."

A user named Jennifer wrote of her miscarriages, "The pain is so intense and the sense of grief is real. Thank you for letting other couples know that they are not alone."

Zuckerberg posted a picture and short essay to his personal Facebook page on Friday afternoon. He has 25 million followers, so the news spread very quickly.

"Most people don't discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you or reflect upon you -- as if you're defective or did something to cause this. So you struggle on your own," he wrote.

But then he struck an optimistic note: "In today's open and connected world, discussing these issues doesn't distance us; it brings us together. It creates understanding and tolerance, and it gives us hope."

It seemed that many of his followers connected with that idea right away.

The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a nonprofit group, immediately tweeted its congratulations to the Zuckerbergs and said it was great to see them "raising awareness about how many people are affected by miscarriage."

CNN correspondent Kyra Phillips, whose book "The Whole Life Fertility Plan" came out earlier this year, said on "CNN Newsroom" that Zuckerberg and Chan's news will assure other families that "it's not just me; other people are dealing with this."

Too often, she said, "There's a stigma. Women feel ashamed. Men feel ashamed. They don't want to talk about it. They think something's wrong with them."

These emotions were evident in the ever-expanding comments thread below Zuckerberg's essay on Friday. While Facebook includes commenters' real names, many users perceive the site to be a quasi-private space to share personal experiences and stories. (For that reason, we're only including the first names of the users quoted here.)

"Hand raised," Stephanie wrote, describing how fertility issues affect many families.

"It is lonely," Michelle wrote, agreeing with Zuckerberg's description. "We had a miscarriage and then were unable to conceive for two more years. Now we are blessed with three kids."

Yul added her thanks to Zuckerberg and Chan for sharing something that's ordinarily very private: "My wife and I went through a similar experience, and didn't realize how many of our friends had gone through the same thing until we finally started talking openly about it."

RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association also used Zuckerberg's invention to share the news on Friday and thank the family for raising awareness.

"You are not alone!" the group wrote. "And congratulations on the exciting news!"

Why this Windows 10 feature is freaking everyone out

Windows 10 includes a new feature called Wi-Fi Sense, which is making some folks uneasy.

Wi-Fi Sense allows you to automatically log your friends onto your Wi-Fi network without ever giving them your password. It's a convenient solution to the awkward "what's your Wi-Fi password?" conversations.

In turn, you can use Wi-Fi Sense to automatically connect your Windows 10 PC to your friends' Wi-Fi networks without knowing their passwords.

Sounds safer than telling them your password, which you probably use for your bank and email accounts, right?

Maybe. Maybe not.

Why Wi-Fi Sense is safe

Microsoft enables Wi-Fi Sense by default on Windows 10, but it doesn't share your networks by default. You have to actively choose to share your Wi-Fi network by clicking a box that says "Share network with my contacts" when logging in.

When you share your network, all of your Facebook (FB, Tech30) friends as well as your Skype and Outlook.com contacts will be able to automatically log onto your Wi-Fi network when their Windows 10 PCs are in range. With Wi-Fi Sense, they don't need to enter a password to log on (if they have a Mac, iPhone or Android device, you'll still have to give up your password).

And when your friends connect via Wi-Fi Sense, they won't then, in turn, be able to share your network with their friends.

Wi-Fi Sense stores your Wi-Fi network password on a Microsoft server. It's encrypted, so if a hacker were to break in, your password would appear as garbled text. And Windows 10 does not allow you to share access to corporate Wi-Fi networks that use special security protocols.

Why Wi-Fi Sense is a potential security threat

But what about that Outlook.com contact turned stalker? Do you want that person to have access to your network? Wi-Fi Sense doesn't allow you to share your network with an individual -- it's either all your contacts or none of them.

When people gain access to your network, all kinds of bad things can happen: They can potentially hack into other devices connected to that network, including your computer and smartphone. They can potentially steal data off your devices, including photos, emails and other personal information.

Microsoft claims that if you share your home Wi-Fi network via Wi-Fi Sense, your contacts won't have access to other computers, devices or files stored on your network. That's accomplished by turning off a feature called "network discovery," preventing your friends' computers from seeing the other computers and gadget connected signed into your Wi-Fi network. That makes it more difficult -- not impossible -- for your hacker friend to steal your stuff.

A Microsoft spokesman couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

Should you stop using it?

You're probably safe using Wi-Fi Sense.

All these nightmare scenarios are possible ... but farfetched. Even the worst-case scenario -- a stalker using Wi-Fi Sense to steal your naked photos -- would require that person to sit outside your house with a Windows 10 PC while he hacks into your network.

But if you do want to protect those naked photos and you shared your network via Wi-Fi Sense you can stop that. Windows 10 lets you do that in settings (it takes a few days to register). You can also opt your network out of Wi-Fi Sense entirely by adding the phrase "_optout" to the end of your Wi-Fi network's name.

Cleric predicts an end to Boko Haram

GENERAL Overseer of House of Redemption International, Archbishop Kalu O. Kalu has called on Nigerians to pray without ceasing for the nation and its leaders, assuring that an end will soon come to all forms of anti-social upheavals in different parts of the country. Specifally, Archbishop Kalu also predicted an end to Boko Haram menace in the North Eastern part of the country, arguing that it was politically motivated and since that purpose has been achieved there will naturally be a truce. Speaking in an interview at the end of his church’s 4-day convention in Surulere, Lagos the cleric who established the HORI in 2009 after several years with St. Joseph’s Chosen Church of God, said Nigeria is passing through a phase, at the end of which the citizens will rejoice. Theme of the convention was: ‘My day, my time, my season of turnaround.’ According to him, the current insurgency in parts of the North was organised for a political purpose, but now that that purpose has been achieved the backers of the dream will back off soon. “If the insurgency ended immediately after the elections everybody in the country would have been left with no alternative than to believe the rumours that have been flying around,” adding “but for its end, it will end very soon.” The Abia State-born cleric believes that Nigeria, as a nation, had been established by divine arrangement, noting that every attempt by individuals or groups to tear or balkanise the nation will come nought. “This nation’s unity is by divine arrangement. Every nation goes through a phase and Nigeria is not an exception. Britain, America and all the developed nations of the world had gone their different phases and today, America is the most powerful nation of the world. Life is in phases and Nigeria is going through its own,” he explained. He therefore enjoined every Nigerian to hold on to God. He argued that a nation that holds on to God will naturally be lifted up, lamenting that despite the upsurge of worship places in the country, there is no righteousness in our governance.

Making the most of one-night stands!

ONE-NIGHT-STANDS are memorable because they are never planned. One minute you’re anxious about the stalemate in your love-life, and the next you are making wild love to a person with whom you are not romantically linked. It is not often this happens, but when it does, do you make the most of it?

One-night stand

A few years back, Lizzy was shocked when she got a call that her mum just had a partial stroke and she was needed urgently at the hospital she was taken.
“I’m her only child,” she said, “and, I anxiously rushed to the government hospital she was taken.
Then , I called the private hospital my company used for her to be transferred, so she could have proper care. We’ve always been close and since dad died a few years ago, she’d needed me more than ever.
“A few days later, I was at her bedside when this doctor called. When he introduced himself, I was surprised. Tall, dark and handsome, Frank looked more like a model than a doctor.
I stopped gawping at him and tried to focus on what he was saying to me. He assured mum would make a quick recovery and I sighed sadly.
It was a relief that mum would be all right but the trauma of the few days coupled with the fact that my husband was on a contract job in Saudi Arabia for nine months made me really vulnerable. Sensing my sadness, Frank asked me into his office where I could talk properly.
“As I narrated all that had happened in the past, coupled with the fact that I was alone in the house with our three children, I felt a bit weepy and Frank got up from his chair, enveloped me in his arms and it felt good. He was afterall a doctor, and I was a patient’s relative. Only, he started kissing me. ‘What are you doing?’ I asked. But, he continued kissing me and as lust stared in my loins, the despair of the past few days were forgotten.
I kissed him back as his hands tumbled with the buttons of my blouse, he eagerly undid his trousers, and eased me gently on to the leather couch in his office and for the next few minutes, sex took my mind of my problems. Afterwards though. I felt guilty but the sex loosened the frustration I’d bottled inside me for weeks.
“I vowed it would be a one-off though, but the next day I was sitting with mum as she slept when I felt Frank’s arm on my shoulder. His eyes said all I needed to hear and I willingly followed him to his office. We made love three more times over the period mum was hospitalised. When she was eventually discharged, I went to Frank’s office to say good-bye. A look at my face and he didn’t bother to ask if we could meet again. We’d had our fun and that was it.”
Lateefat’s experience happened when she was temporarily co-opted by a modelling agency for a big fashion show. A make-up artiste, in her 30s, she found herself working with Chris, a photographer a few years younger than she was. “Chris was a very friendly guy and we hit it off immediately,” she recalled.
We had to work together most of the time and as the days passed, I started fantasising about him while I lay in my boyfriend’s arms Dammy, my boyfriend lived on and off with me and, though, we had a son together, he wasn’t really keen on getting married. He was a bit pompous and a ladies’ man. I didn’t  fancy spending the rest of my life with him.
“In the meantime, Chris was getting bolder. I would be with the models, applying make-up, and he would walk  behind me, pinching my bottom! When I warned him not to get us into trouble, he bragged that he was trouble! Then, later one afternoon, we were in the bigger office where all the models’ outfits were when he started flirting outrageously with me. Alone at last, I actually felt nervous.
But the models were busy elsewhere and we were able to relax. When the phone rang, I answered and it was one of our boring customers rattling on and on, making silly enquiry. Chris slowly got up and stood behind me. His hands rested on my shoulders before hanging on my boobs. I ought to be shocked, instead I tingled all over. He then started raising up my loose top and massaging my bare breasts. Phone still to my ear, I started up and saw his mischievous smile.
I was burning with desire at this moment. And, there was the danger that someone would walk in. As his arms wreaked havoc on my body, desire welled up. “When the boring caller finally stopped, Chris and I started kissing passionately. I quickly locked the door as he spun my swivel chair around and pulled me into his arms.
Still glued together, he hitched up the black cotton skirt we were all asked to wear, running his hands around my hips, ‘Better than any of the models’, he complemented. Until finally, satisfied, we slumped, panting and laughing hysterically in each other’s arms. ‘That was fun!’ Chris gasped and I agreed.
“There was no awkwardness between us at work afterwards, just lots of secret smiles. But my experience finally gave me the confidence to give Frank his marching orders. I wanted to enjoy being single again and having fun without his making me feel uncomfortable. A few days later, Chris offered to take me out but I gently turned him down.
My confidence boosted, I didn’t want to continue my freedom with a toy boy —the wonderful memories of our days together at the modelling office  was all the boost I needed.”

An 18-year-old Wyoming man accused of robbing and shooting three members of a family after asking for roadside help told investigators he opened fire after one of the victims laughed at him, an FBI agent said in a court filing Thursday.

Jason Shane, 51, and Tana Shane, 47, died in the Wednesday shooting in the small town of Pryor, FBI spokesman Todd Palmer said.
