I didn’t send any emissary to Otti —-Gov Ikpeazu

By Anayo Okoli
UMUAHIA—GOVERNOR Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has denied sending any emissaries to Dr. Alex Otti, APGA governorship candidate in the last general elections to lobby him to drop his petition against the governor at the election tribunal, and challenged Otti to mention the name of the emissaries sent to him.
The governor was reacting to a statement credited to Otti that the governor and his party, PDP have been sending emissaries urging him to drop his petition, an appeal he said he vehemently rejected.
Speaking through his Special Assistant on Media, Ugochukwu Emezue, Ikpeazu said at no time had he contemplated sending emissaries to his opponent, especially since the tribunal commenced sitting in Umuahia.
“I challenge Dr. Alex Otti to name those who visited him on behalf of the Government of Abia State. Why should I send emissaries to somebody that contested the election with me and lost woefully?
“Is it not an irony that such should be the case? I hope he is not misconstruing the hand of fellowship I have been extending to members of the opposition parties in the state to mean that I want him to drop his matter.
“He claimed I sent emissaries to him. I challenge him today to give the names of those emissaries if he is to be taken seriously, except he is playing to the gallery and using the lie to seek the sympathy of the people of Abia State,” Governor Ikpeazu said.
According to him, since the conclusion of the  April 11  and re-run of  April 25, the electorate in Abia State have since moved on with life.
